R&D AND TECHNOLOGY

R&D Development Roadmap

A 36-month experimental development programme structured around four SPW core work packages, followed by ten advanced Phase 2 modules. All figures describe research targets subject to technical validation, not validated results.

Studio photography of a modern high-tech laboratory featuring robotic arms, digital monitoring stations, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The scene has a cool, professional, and innovative atmosphere.

Months 1–36 · Planned schedule

SPW Core Work Packages

Four sequential, partly overlapping work packages move each hypothesis from laboratory concept to field validation. Month ranges are planning targets and may shift with validation results.

WP1 · Months 1–9 (target)

System Architecture & Digital Twin

Define the reference architecture and build a simulation model to test design hypotheses before hardware commitment.

WP2 · Months 7–18 (target)

Power & Energy Integration

Experimentally couple high-power charging, generation and storage under a shared control layer at prototype scale.

WP3 · Months 16–28 (target)

Control, Safety & Cyber-Physical Security

Develop and stress-test control algorithms, fault handling and secure data exchange between site assets.

WP4 · Months 26–36 (target)

Field Validation & Reporting

Measure performance in real operation, compare against targets and document which hypotheses are confirmed or rejected.

Phase 2 · Proposed scope

Ten Advanced Modules

Each module is a research hypothesis, initiated only if the preceding core work packages deliver validated results.

M01 Predictive Load Forecasting

Hypothesis: ML models reduce peak-demand error.

M02 Adaptive Storage Dispatch

Target: optimised battery cycling under variable load.

M03 Grid-Service Interfaces

Scenario: flexibility provision to the network operator.

M04 Thermal Management

Hypothesis: heat recovery from high-power equipment.

M05 Condition Monitoring

Target: early fault detection from sensor telemetry.

M06 Fleet Scheduling

Hypothesis: booking logic lowers queueing at peak times.

M07 Secure Data Platform

Target: auditable, encrypted asset data exchange.

M08 Water Reuse Control

Hypothesis: sensor-driven treatment cuts fresh-water use.

M09 Cold-Climate Resilience

Target: stable operation through sub-zero conditions.

M10 Replication Toolkit

Scenario: transferable design for further sites.

Research target / hypothesis

What we aim to prove

Planned performance values, forecasts and scenarios defined at programme start. They guide experiments and are not guaranteed results.

Validated outcome

What measurement confirms

Results reported only after documented testing in WP4. Until then, every figure on this page remains a target pending technical validation.

PHASE 2 · RESEARCH TARGETS

Technical Architecture Layer

Ten advanced modules extend the four SPW core work packages. Each module is a research objective subject to technical validation — not a validated result.

01 — Robotic Process Orchestration

Coordination logic for the KUKA KR120 robotic cell within the 25 m wash tunnel. Target scope, pending validation.

02 — Vehicle Recognition & Sensing

Sensor and vision research to adapt treatment to vehicle geometry. Hypothesis to be tested in the on-site lab.

03 — Energy Management (MCS)

Load-balancing research for the 1.2 MW Megawatt Charging System. Performance figures remain research targets.

04 — PV & BESS Integration

Control strategies linking 150 kWp photovoltaics with a 200 kW battery storage system. Subject to validation.

05 — Edge Compute Platform

Local processing architecture hosted in the dedicated edge-compute room. Architecture under development.

06 — Data Layer & Governance

Structured operational data handling designed around GDPR principles and defined access rules.

07 — Circular Water Systems

Water recovery and reuse research alongside WashTec systems. Efficiency levels are targets, not results.

08 — Winter Operation

Cold-weather resilience for wash and charging infrastructure. To be confirmed through seasonal testing.

09 — Testing Lab Protocols

Repeatable test methods that separate measured outcomes from research hypotheses.

10 — Driver Services Interface

Digital interface connecting driver suites, lounge and site services. Concept stage, subject to validation.

R&D · TECHNICAL VALIDATION

Cyber-Physical Orchestration

Across the 36-month experimental development roadmap, every technical claim is tracked against defined validation rules. Robotics, energy and data orchestration objectives remain research targets until measured on site under documented test conditions.

HYPOTHESIS — Target performance, efficiency or integration outcomes not yet demonstrated. Presented as objectives, not results.

VALIDATED — Applied only once results are measured, documented and reviewed against the programme's validation protocol.

COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH

Strategic R&D Integration

Research partners and investors can request the full 36-month experimental development roadmap and work package documentation. Stated targets remain research objectives until technically validated.
